Zildjian Planet Z

Zildjian Planet ZPink's drummer Mark Schulman Drum and success

How is the P! Nk Tour goes, and what do you think made it so popular in this country?

There are many things that would make it popular everywhere, she is an artist of the incredibly high integrity who writes things really relevant, has an incredible voice ... she is like a gymnast training for the Olympic team when she comes from this incredible artist, she sings and does all these things when she was in gymnastics and aerial ballet. It is simply amazing, his music rocks and she has her own style and voice of the industry. And I think that the Australians just really get it, because the Australians are smart.

What you tumble?

I was born a drummer. I left the womb, and my mom says I used to make noise drum. Battery chose me, I did not choose the battery. I saw the Beatles ... .... I saw John, Paul, George, Ringo and I saw, and I am transfixed, it was the coolest guy I ever saw. Then I saw the girls screaming, and I thought: "I want". But then, my response was to continue on giving and the natural propensity I already had. I played in my first band when I was nine, I played my first professional gig, but I paid $ 75.00 when I was 13 years. Thus, while other children have been delivering pizzas and working at McDonald's, I was playing music, playing bar mitzvahs and weddings on weekends and always understood that it was worth. I worked hard to feed my talent and be able to put myself in a position where I can express that talent.

How important place for you to have a good teacher to help a drummer develop as a player?

My philosophy on art is that art is a means to an end, is not an end itself. So if you hear something you want to be able to play you understand how to develop the technology and we hope you find a good teacher. A good teacher is fundamentally good thinking, good mirror, someone who can tell you and can guide you and show you how you're doing, and talk long. I grew up playing in bands, I'm not much of a technician, I just loved playing as much. I usually play, play, play, play, play.

And how much practice you've done and you still practice these days to the same degree?

I've never been a guy who practiced four hours a day. The most I've ever played in one day was 3 hours. But you could put me in a recording studio for 18 hours if I'm recording or writing music. So I'm always seen as a technical means to an end. So I practice something if I need to learn something or if I want to develop a specific purpose. As if I were to say that I am playing single strokes at 110 bpm, and then I'll work on my technique finger with single strokes to be able to play as fast.

What you want to play drums and cymbals Sabian Gretsch?

Sabian cymbals When it first came out they sounded like Zildjian, but were less expensive. From there I developed a relationship with the company and got my first endorsement of Sabian in 1988, and I have been with them since. For me, it's even quaint because it feels like home. But nobody can say it's better than that. Nobody can tell you something sounds better than anything else. That's bullshit. But you know what you like. You know what resonates with you. There are others I like the sound of cymbals Sabian, but still resonates with me. It feels like home. I had 4 or 5 entries drum, but since I am a little child, I liked Gretsch. For me, it was like cool Drum Gretsch American. With some of my heroes Charlie Watts, Tony Williams the play, I am loved the Gretsch sound and had a real mystical scene in Los Angeles studios in the 70s and 80s. When I went to the sessions and do not use my own drums.
