Is this the framework design space Fiero is as strong as people say or is it just hype because of his age? Pontiac or do any other car in its class share the same design? I think the MR2 is quite similar (perhaps wrongly), but others? Thank you
It is considered very strong. So much so that the donor car recommended "for most cars available kit. (Kits Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.). They use the Fiero chassis (sometimes lengthened and strengthened a little) and can handle big V-8. (I saw some using the 500 engine ignition Eldorado / trans package) The Toyota MR2 is not stressed as good. It's the same type construction, but not as massive. It was designed for performance using the limited power and light weight.
The only other cars I've seen in this size range capable of handling of same would be the Datsun (Nissan) Z Cars (240 +) and the Mazda RX-7. The Z is not the center of the engine, but it would not have the balance of a mid engine design for the corners. The Mazda is in fact the center of the engine, because it puts the complete power train between the front and rear axles. (Even if the engine is in front of the driver)
