Our public education system seems to be falling increasingly behind in many areas. Philosophy has received little attention, history is rewritten, and knowledge of our solar system and universe is dark. Only a small majority can cite the Ten Commandments that we are a Christian nation. And who can name the planets in order, or even how many there as we move towards 2012? A thousand?

Things are going in our SLAR system that are new and inexplicable!

Let me focus on one such example of Saturn! A superb screen light on Saturn has baffled scientists who say that it behaves like no other known planetary aurorae in our solar system. The light bluish-green was found on the ringed planet in the north polar region as terrestrial aurora. It was discovered by infrared instruments on the Cassini spacecraft.

"We have never seen an aurora, as elsewhere," said Tom Stallard, a scientist working with data from Cassini at the University of Leicester. "The aurora covers a huge area around the pole. Our current ideas about the shapes of Saturn's aurora predict that this region must be empty, to find such a brilliant auroras here is a wonderful surprise. "The aurorae are caused by charged particles streaming along the magnetic field lines of a planet in its atmosphere.
Particles from the Sun cause the aurora Earth. Many, but not all, of the aurora to Jupiter and Saturn are caused by particles trapped in the magnetic environments of these planets.

Jupiter's auroral ring main is caused by interactions in the magnetic environment of Jupiter and remains constant in size. Saturn's main aurora is caused by the solar wind and the size changes dramatically as the wind varies. However, the Aurora recently observed on Saturn does not fit into either category. The aurora appears in a new infrared region hidden Hubble Space Telescope. Cassini has observed when the spacecraft flew close to the polar region of Saturn.
