Nasa Space Center

Nasa Space CenterHow long it takes to visit the NASA space center in Houston?

I am visiting Houston in November ..
I have a 2 year old with me so that I know how long it takes to visit the Johnson Space Center in Houston?
What are the best shows to see?

Depends on the tour. I took my parents on their visit to Houston (April). We took the tram ride, but not the "level 9" Tour. We had lunch and saw the exhibits at Space Center / Space Kids Place building, including spacesuits and other equipment worn by astronauts another era.

We were there about three hours.

If you have a child two years you do not want to take the tram ride unless he / she is very wise (meaning no fidgeting, no act, no tears). There is some climbing stairs (good luck getting into the elevator) and you are sitting quietly in the mission control.

If you go, you'll probably only want to be in the Kids Space Place (the building closest you enter the parking lot).

Here's the website:

The NASA facility is located in Clear Lake. Who of downtown Houston (Hobby Airport around) is about 30 minutes without rush hour.

There is a huge quantity of parts to see. Of most interest to you and your child is probably the famous "Mission Control Room", which is always shown in movies. It is a lot smaller in real life, even with all these lines of computers and monitors.

Your child would probably enjoy more Rocket Park. I think they still have a full size Saturn V rocket on its side. The vehicle is just huge, I can not imagine the amount of noise that would rocket on takeoff.

NASA Clear Lake is easily a full day if you want it. Most people do. However, if you're on a schedule they tram tours that pass outside of most exhibits and buildings.

You might even have the chance to meet an astronaut while on the ground. They have a special program that allows you to have lunch with an astronaut (it does cost money tho).

Enjoy!

for a child all day.
for a normal adult who loves the area a regular quantity, at 3:00.

Allow at least one and half day and do not forget lots of strollers and lots of children running everywhere. Have breakfast before going to Frenchy's (Italian restaurant) of NASA Road 1. Many astronauts eat here. Then head to NASA.

Don, t forget the Children's Museum of Houston Museum District. It is by far the best in the nation. Enjoy!
