With a table of limited time, they decided to buy chronograph models 5 brands of standard retail and conduct rigorous testing to analyze their resistance to different stressors.

The pieceses 5 times have been exposed to extreme tests to check their resistance to temperature, vacuum, shock, vibration, humidity, corrosion, noise and pressure. The test was concluded in 1965, after which only 3 watches are still ongoing. The Omega Speedmaster was the only one who has not suffered from the severe deterioration that has hit the other 2.

The Omega Moon Time Piece is the only timekeeping instrument that has never been worn on the moon. They feared the move could be compromised machine to zero gravity of the circumstances, that the pendulum in motion would not be able to move without gravity exerted on it. In addition to the movement, the crystal has also been amended to Hessalite material to withstand extreme pressures.

The initial velocity Master first step in space has never been taken into account. After his return to earth, he was lost in unknown circumstances. Today, all the instruments of the NASA time-keeping taken into space by astronauts are owned by NASA, and should be returned to NASA after the space mission has concluded.
