| MarketplaceLonely Planet Tahiti Trip to South Pacific Today, Norm Goldman, Editor Sketchand Travel . com and Bookpleasures.com is pleased to have as a guest well known author, writer and expert on travel in the South Pacific David Stanley. David is the author of Moon Handbooks South Pacific.
Hello David and thank you for accepting our invitation for an interview.
NORM:
Please tell our readers something about yourself, your knowledge and Books by yourself on the South Pacific.
David
I received the life of travel guides since 1979, when Moon Publications Rutland published the 1st edition of the Handbook of the South Pacific.
In November 2004, Avalon Travel Publishing Emeryville, California took the 8th edition of Moon Handbooks South Pacific. I've also written Lonely Planet Eastern Europe, Cuba and the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Recently I have been using the website, the South PACIFIC.ORG: Map of South Pacific PHOTOS CUBA.
NORM:
When we speak of the South Pacific and we see where it is compared to the U.S. or Canada?
David
"South Pacific" brochures of tour operators often focus on Australia and New Zealand, but these countries are very different from the tropical Pacific islands. Moon Handbooks South Pacific covers 15 countries and island territories of Easter Island to Solomon. People tend to think of the region, but it only takes two hours to go from Los Angeles to Tahiti than to go to Honolulu. Fiji is midway between Hawaii and New Zealand, west of Tahiti.
NORM:
Do you think in the South Pacific a good choice for a romantic holiday or a wedding and honeymoon destination? Why?
David
All major lines of South Pacific have tried to present himself as a wedding or honeymoon. Fiji and the Cook Islands have been most successful as weddings can be arranged locally with little fuss.
In French Polynesia, marriages can be performed only for those with a stay of 30 days, which excludes most tourists. Instead, French Polynesia has developed an active policy of industry honeymoon in Bora Bora is one of the writers for wedding magazine that enjoyed the hospitality of luxury hotels. In my opinion, Moorea Bora Bora is equal in all but name, and is much cheaper. For a romantic, I recommend Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. There is much to see and do in a compact area, but the prices are fair.
NORM:
What is the best time to visit the South Pacific in terms of weather, costs, crowds, and the availability of flights from the United States, Canada and Europe?
David
Officially the hurricane season in the South Pacific during the period from December to April, but global warming begins earlier and ending later. Winter (May-October) as a refrigerator, hairdryer, and to a lesser extent in humid regions, the best time to go. May to August, the season in Australia and New Zealand, so that the air in Ile-de-Season Tickets Zealand Pacific applying these months. Thus, on a fluke, you can enjoy the best weather conditions for the low price, if you plan your trip now.
NORM:
Is it safe to travel in the South Pacific?
David
Very safe. "Terrorists" do not stand out as a sore on the fingers of these small islands. Violent crimes (assault, etc.) is almost unknown, but theft has occurred. Nothing will go astray if some simple precautions. Contrary to the images by Hollywood, and in tourist brochures, the island art Posted on April 17, 2010.
