Lonely Planet Russia

Lonely Planet RussiaHow risky is Russia and what precautions should be taken of tourists?

I'm an idiot 18-year-old English children travel to Russia soon, and I just want to know what are the risks. I read a Lonely Planet Russia, before anyone gets all "you stupid fuckwit, you must be like me and know everything before doing anything," which describes being robbed on trains, is mugged in the street, doped, robbed and raped (I'm a guy but I could still get raped and I do not like the sound of it) through all kinds to offer you the hospitality of vodka, get your credit card cloned by thugs ATMs operated by scammers, be accosted by fine-hungry police, was assaulted by asking lunaics and street urchins, contracts Giardia / the shits from drinking tap water just and all other sorts of terrible thing ...

Basically, what are the risks of Russia for foreigners like me, and what precautions should I take when I'm there?

Thank you for your time, you have just wised up and stopped a rape:)

Are you going to Moscow or Manchester and Liverpool?
I have ben a few times in Moscow, and to be honest
Moscow is a hell of a lot safer than Liverpool or Manchester.
Like any city if you still need to be reasonable, and Moscow, make sure your passport with you wherever you go, and your landing card and customs declaration (especially around tourist areas like Park Alexandria / Kremlin Museums etc. where security is tight to prevent terrorist attacks.
Try and learn some basic Russsian that even if many people can speak English a little Russian goes a long way.

You'll love Moscow! Just do not look or act like a tourist and you'll be fine.

I would your description of London sounds good, you will be much safer in Russia.
