Little Big Planet Gamefaqs

I went in every direction I could, wikipedia youtube GameFAQs. And I still do not understand Little Big Planet, I know that you can create worlds, but what the hell is the purpose? Are there patterns you have to fight? I do not understand. Someone explain the objectives of the game because I'm deciding if I should buy.
