Do infrared heaters that actually work and save money? I never trust the testimony of those who sell. Have you tried and did excellent work for you? I am at this moment and freezing could use a cheap (low energy) to increase the heat here. Examples: EdenPure and ComfortZone heater. They are expensive, they really save you much money in the long term?
electric heaters are all 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat.
Radiant (infrared) heat project space heater infrared radiation, when the infrared radiation strikes a solid object, it is converted into heat, so radiant heaters are more focused or concentrated as heating coils. If you are freezing cold, but you spend all day sitting at your desk, a heat lamp projected directly to you, you feel warm even if the room is cold (and in fact, even if the door to the outside is wide open).
convection heaters use a fan or air circulation to also extend their heat in a room. You can not really target a specific area.
The other factor heaters is that in areas where you pay different rates depending on time of day you use electricity, you can save money by storing heat during the periods of cheap electricity, and releases it in your room during the times when you need heat and electricity is expensive. This can be done using a storage heater. They are more expensive to buy than ordinary radiators, but if you're in the area of electricity use time, they can save some money if programmed correctly.
I mention all this in much more detail on my little energy savings site. The link below is particularly effective energy to my page electric heaters.
Infrared heating works, but only in direct line with the heating elements.
For large spaces, they need to heat something then heated the air in the surrounding areas via the air circulation.
They only heat a small area, but if you spend 90% of your time in a field if you heat that area and let your heater down and then we can really save.
