Gigabyte Rocket

Gigabyte RocketThe latest acquisition by Google

Fans of Google (including me), you can try to understand what Google is. In this spirit, I share some news.

Google bought a company called Upstartle, which makes Web-based software called Writely word processor. The Writely and Google had little say in their blogs, other than the transaction has been done and Google is excited to have the team on board. I went to see the two blogs this morning and they are absolutely stuck up, so I am unable to see what was written. I've linked them for you so that you can take a look when the heat is off.

When I read Google News I often smile, laugh or laugh out loud. It deserves a laugh out loud.

Google bought Upstartle because he wants to allow people to perform clerical duties on the Internet. It's a nice way of saying he wants to Kick Butt Microsoft, which makes me smile. I think Microsoft's butt blows is a good part of their strategy.

Money Magazine agrees with me, but think there is more than that. Google has always expressed a desire to move the client (PC)-based computing networks (Internet) based computer. This means that only a small piece of program you use is on your computer (called a thin client), and the rest remains on the server.

I heard that thin client computing will take off like a rocket from twenty years. Sixteen years ago when Larry Ellison of Oracle has been pushing apart the computers that have used the network to work, I thought it was a stupid idea, and I still do. At the time, a powerful computer cost a couple grand, and USB dongles that hold a gigabyte of data are not even invented yet (I do not even yet been invented USB).

The reason then was that a computer network at low prices that cost a few hundred dollars could just plug into the network and use its processing power and storage. Now, a powerful computer is a few hundred dollars, so who needs a lighter version?

Besides, I want to control my own resources and files and software. I do not want them sitting on Google's hard drive big giant so they can use to decide what kind of advertising to serve me.

And so I think money is the final game.

But competing with Microsoft is an afterthought for Google, which is grappling with high expectations of Wall Street for continued growth. browser-based applications like Writely could feature of contextual ads from Google, a company that should grow to 9.5 billion dollars this year.

Listen to this:

For Google, the price of Mathematics' Ph.D. if he is on the staff, the calculation is extremely simple. Google makes around $ 16 per user per year in advertising. There are over 300 million users of Microsoft Word today. If Google persuaded some of these users to use its software over the Web instead of the Word, and they spend more time using other Google tools as a result, Google could boost sales of advertising by user. Even a boost from $ 1 per user translates into 400 million dollars of additional revenue.

I'm not sure I want to use a word processor based on the glue in web ads based on the type I. Wait ... I'm sure. I'm not.

Jeez ... with all these intellectuals gathered at a site more Google ads is coated with an entire program context of word processing, web-based their best to say? I'm starting to feel a pony trick.

I hope I'm missing something, as I'm still not sure I understand what Google is trying to do, but it's fun to watch. For more laughs than I like to visit the Google website rumors. You should take a look.
