How do I share my files on a ftp space without giving my password? IMA teacher and my school gave me a ftp space I might be able to add files from the Explorer menu with my password. I want to put lecture notes, presentations for my students. Bu I do not know how could they be able to get these files without my password? Is it possible?
Each individual is granted access to the FTP site. They do not have access to your IE, only the information / documents that you put on the FTP. Your password is not disclosed. When you register on the FTP site, there is an option for you to sign anonymously if you wish.
FTP is a pain to use, but it is safe.
You can configure security to each folder level.
Talk to the technicians or IT administrators at your school, they may be able to allow students to access without a password.
Your FTP space will be a URL or an IP address from which students can use to view the files in your FTP space. The password is used just to prevent anyone from being able to add or remove files other than you.
Ask a computer technician when you work to find the location of your files so that you can give the correct path to your students.
It is very possible, and many school districts have done this. Ask your school IT technician to "share" your network folder for your students. You may have to use their own username and password or user global / password that only you and your students know. It's very simple and it is recommended to share with some sort of security to share with everyone.
